Rococo has a special place in my heart. ๐ Everything about it speaks to me. The over the top and beyond extra fashion, proportions, hair, make-up, pastries…etc. Its just pure decadence and fun. The UNDERPINNINGS are JUST BEYOND. You know how much I love corsets and bustles! I’m always interested in seeing new takes on the fashion icon Marie Antoinette.
I couldn’t possibly discuss my favorite rococo moments in movies and fashion without mentioning the iconic performance Madonna gave at MTV Awards performing Vogue. BITCH. Your fave could never and I believe Camilla Cabello’s team tried to recreate this but flopped. Girl, the petticoats, the fan dance…It’s INCREDIBLE. A MUST WATCH.
Sorry, last reference I swear. But I’m also reminded of an old cartoon my sister and I would watch on repeat on an old VHS. I think it was on one of those dollar bins where you find odds and ends. The cartoon is about this little girl named Little Audrey that bakes a gingerbread man, then takes a nap and dreams they go to cakeland where the gingerbread man tries to marry his sweetheart, Angel Cake. But Devil Food Cake interferes and carries off the bride. Cop Cakes and Animal Crackers come to the rescue. Angel Cake was turning looks for her wedding! I embedded the video for your viewing. It’s such a fun little cartoon.
